Triple coupons tomorrow through Sunday....
Double Proctor and Gamble coupons worth $1-$2 12/31-1/6

I went to Harris Teeter today even though Triples are tomorrow because I have some coupons that were going to expire today and I also wanted to go ahead and get the items that were cheap from Proctor and Gamble today rather than wait until tomorrow and them be out. There was only one item that they wouldn't have had and that is the Downy, I got the last one, but who knows by the time I got there tomorrow it could have been different.

It has been a while

It has been a while since I blogged. I will admit I have been to the store 3 times in the past week and half. I went to BiLo (doubles coupons up to $.99)on the 22nd.
I didn't take a picture but I got
$50 Best Buy gift card (Christmas gifts) and got a $10 off your next order coupon.
I then bought-
3 Luzianne Coffee ($.60Q) on sale for $3.50
1 Progresso Broth ($1.25IP) on sale bogo
1 Eggo Waffle ($.75Q) Bogo sale and that made them free
2 Sargento Cheese ($.55Q) on sale $2.50
Used my $10 off your next order coupon
Total out of pocket was $1.12

I then went to CVS they had some free after ECB, Loreal eye shadow, halls, Right Guard deodorant...spent something like $5.xx after my Ecbs and used a gift card to pay. I got back somewhere around $15 in Ecbs back.

I went to Harris Teeter on Christmas Eve. I didn't really want to go anywhere (which I will get to further down) but I had to get our Christmas dinner meat. Husband said he would come with and honestly I am not sure I would have been able to do it alone. I actually spent over $130 which I haven't done that in MONTHS, maybe even a year. I did get a Beef Tenderloin and a Rib Roast, soda, pies, ice cream, rolls and sparkling wine. The nice thing is I had a rebate for 10% basket ring up to $10 back and a rebate for the pies. So I still saved over 50% in the end.

The reason I haven't been blogging and haven't been my usual grocery shopping self.
One week ago today we had to take Black Kitty to the vet. I actually had taken him on the 18th and they told me he was very sick. He had lost 40% of his body weight and since he was only 3 yrs old that is a big deal. He had been shaky for a few weeks off and on and hadn't been wanting to go outside, plus since before Thanksgiving he had been having potty issues AGAIN. I didn't realize at the time he was sick. On the 18th while I was baking cookies for my husbands Christmas party that it occurred to me the cat might be diabetic. The weight loss, peeing, lack of interest in food at times, eating CUPCAKES....Anyway they said he was not diabetic. They did a Feline HIV and Leukemia test both of which came back negative. They took more blood and sent us home. We went to the party that evening though Black Kitty was on our minds. When we came home he wanted to go outside. He was out all night, the next morning he was waiting at the back door to come in. He acted normal, wanting his milk, wanting food, wanting whatever I was eating, typical Black Kitty.

Later that day the Vet called and said they got the bloodwork back and everything looked normal EXCEPT his white blood count was around 1500 and it should be 3500-14000. She then told me we can do more to find out what was going on, at a cost of $500...but the cat was once again acting normal.

The next morning he was acting very funny. He could walk very slowly and wanted to be outside. I called the vet and I got a prescription for him. He just laid there barely moving. He kept on wanting to go out although he could barely walk. Finally that evening he came in and just laid on the floor, and would follow me around. He was starting to meow every once in a while and would just lay there. When I went to bed I told him good night and was prepared for what I might find in the morning.

The next morning I got up and he was laying near my sons room (which was very odd, he doesn't normally lay on that side of the house). He could BARELY MOVE. I mean he couldn't walk a straight line at all and would do this loud meow every so often. We took him to the emergency vet. He just laid in my lap the whole time never moving. We got to the Vet and they immediately took him in the back. They put us in a room and the vet came in and said he was VERY VERY VERY sick. He was barely moving. He said he would do blood work again and we will go from there. The blood count came back and this time his WBC was 650! The vet said he could do an Xray to see if anything showed up that way. The Xray came back normal too. The vet then explained that with him loosing so much weight, his white blood count so low there was really nothing more that could be done and it was most likely Lukemia or cancer, neither of which are curable. And even if they could figure out what was wrong with him, chances are he wouldn't survive. He also said if we committed to going forward it was going to be ATLEAST $1000 just for the next couple of days. Now let me say that the money wasn't really the issue. We had the money, I have been doing pretty well on ebay this season so the money is there and we would not have to put it on a credit card.

After talking with some stranger, the doctor and each other we decided it was in his best interests to not have him subjected to all these things just to have him die anyway. That was by far the worst thing I have been through. I felt horrible. This cat loved me and I loved him. My husband loved this cat like no other animal he has ever had (including growing up). THANK GOD they let us leave and said they would bill us. We were blubbering when we left. For the first 3 days I cried and cried. I missed my "Boyfriend" (that is what I called him). I still miss him. Today is the first day that I have actually felt like getting dressed.

We have been through a lot with this cat (as I have blogged about, plus more I haven't) and he really was a part of the family. We will never find a cat as cool as him again! He will always have a place in my heart.

Rebate Hunting, Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods, Food Lion

I had to go grocery shopping. My HT gets boring, I have been stocking up on the frozen Pizzas (2 at a time), the Flour that WAS $.99 and the ice cream that was Buy 1 get 2 free.

My first stop was Harris Teeter. Empty rebate pad no wine tags, but they did have the Blistix that was bogo this week which equals free with coupons.
3 blistex ($.25Q that doubled) bogo price $.99/2

Total OOp $.05

Then I went to Food Lion
6 Reese mini chips-on sale bogo
2 Reese peanutbutter chips -on sale bogo
2 Hershey Cocoa (coupons for buy 4 reese get free Hersheys cocoa) on sale $2.50
3 Canada Dry Gingerale (buy1 get 2 free) sale $.99
8 Hershey Bars (bogo coupons) bogo sale

Total OOp $9.93
total saved with coupons and specials $27.86

Then I went to another HT and got a $50 gift card that I will get a $25 rebate on.

Then I went to Lowes Foods, this is actually where I was itching to go.
I had to break it up into 2 orders because I had 2 rebates I was qualifing for.

6 Apple Jacks ($1Q) on sale bogo
2 Daisy Sour Cream ($.50Q) sale $1
2 colgate Tooth Paste ($.75Q) sale $1.50
16 Meow Mix Wholesome Goodness wet cat food (bogo Coupons)
1 Tyson Chicken Patties ($1Q) No sale I just really wanted a chicken sandwich
1 Gallon LF brand Milk ($.50 store coupon)
2 bunch Broccoli sale was Bogo
1 JFG Coffee ($.60Q) sale $2.50
2 Minute Maid OJ -on sale for $2.99

Total oop $33.17
total saved with coupons and specials $60.16

But the even better news is the ham, qualifies me for a $15 rebate and the 2 OJ plus a movie I bought last week will qualify me for $5 rebate. That rebate hadn't even occured to me.I bought the movie with my $3 coupon last week as a gift for xmas for the family. When I went to buy the Oj I was going to buy anyway it had the form on it.

So that is $93.15 total out of pocket, but the $50 gift card is for Harris Teeter for me to spend on groceries just to qualify for that rebate. And the rebate total for everything purchased today is $45. I think I did pretty well, that ends up being a PROFIT!

What a great day!

Seems like I have more great days than not (which is a good thing). I started out by looking for a key to our new van that I lost, not once but twice, meaning I have lost TWO KEYs and to have ONE replaced is $125-$150. So I started searching for it. I was checking coat pockets and then decided to check one of my MANY Purses that I don't use (I am still looking for the perfect purse). Well, in one purse I found some insurance cards that were missing (great I think we get new ones the end of this month anyway) but I also found a $10 Best Buy gift card! Husbands bother said he would like a DVD set, so now I get to use my $4 coupon that I forgot to use last time I purchased LOST season 4 and this $10 gift card.

I went to CVS to use my last Transfer RX coupon for $25. After searching around the store, I decided to get nuttin, so I have $25 card from CVS.

I then went to Rite Aid. I decided I would get my husband a gift card and see if I could use my Rite Aid gift card that I got for transfering my RX there a few weeks back...I also got some M&Ms that are BOGO this week AND have a $1 rebate I also used my $1 coupon for the purchase.

Total out of pocket NUTTIN since I used my gift card....BUT WAIT I am not done yet. Those m&ms that I purchased should put me over $25 in the Rite Aid Gift of Savings (spend $25 get $5, $50 get $10, $100 get $20) AND that $25 gift card? I have a $10 rebate I can get for buying a $25 gift card! WHAT A MONEY MAKER!!!

I then went across the street to Harris Teeter. I was asked to buy the makings for chocolate milk (quik or Hersheys)

3 Kraft Singles (used $1 WT) on sale for $2, buy have a special buy 3 get $3 off sooo FREE CHEESE!
2 Gold Medal Flour- $.99 each (4 day sale)
1 Palermo Pizza ($.75 Q) BOGO
3 Ht Naturals Ice Cream on sale buy 1 get 2 free
3 Hershey Reese Chips
1 Hershey Syrup (coupon buy 3 hersheys chips get free syrup)
4.49 lbs Key Limes -marked down produce (total cost $1.20)
1 Gallon Milk -on sale all month for $2.99
3lbs onions -on sale all month $1.47 bag
Spent $20.25
Saved $33.72 (which doesn't count the mark down of the limes)

It was a better deal to buy the 3 bags of hershey chips for $4.50 total and get the Syrup for free with my coupon than to pay $4.29 for the container of Quik that I had no coupon for. Atleast the chips were on sale even though the Hershey's was not...and the Quik wasn't on sale and I didnt have a coupon for it either. I would have had to pay FULL PRICE!! THE HORROR!!!

Then as an icing on my cake I come home to a $10 rebate (for my Thanksgiving Turkey) check, and an envelope of coupons I ordered (for FREE Hershey candy bars at Food Lion, Free French's Onions during triples at HT, and FREE cat food at Lowes Foods).

12-05 Food Lion and Harris Teeter

I have had my parents in town and although I was buying stuff (mom is good for grocery shopping) I didn't post it because I was just too busy.

Some good deals I had gotten were

Land O Lakes Butter that was on sale for $2.50 and I had 30+ coupons for $.55, so yes I got a lot of butter, it is in my freezer. Also HT had a week long sale on Hellman's Mayo for $1.99 for a 40oz jar and I got 20 $.60 off coupons. Mom was so happy, she got 18 jars of it! So know you know where I get my stockpiling gene from. My mom actually has stockpiled for a long time, though of course not as hard core as I do (it is just the 2 of them anyway) but she has purchased large quanties when the sale was really good. That is actually the second time she had purchased Mayo from HT while visiting me (they live in FL and no HT is close).

Some other things I had gotten were Ritz crackers, and I will admit I had no clue how much my family liked these crackers and wish I had purchased more while they were bogo at HT and FL. Another good deal was Coke that was BOGO too and of course I had a coupon for buy 3 get Vault free and $1 off coupons from Coke points.

Enough of the past purchases, they do you no good.

My first stop was Harris Teeter.

Tyson Chicken Nuggets ($.55Q) -$4.00 each
1 Sweet Potato (marked down produce)
3 Progresso Beef Broth ($1Q)-bog0
4 Apple Jacks ($1Q)-bogo

1 Ziploc freezer bags ($.40Q) BOGO
2.5 dozen HT eggs -$2.97
2 Keebler Zesta Crackers ($1/2Q) BOGO
1 HT Singles Cheese ($1 WT)

I also used a $5/$25 competitors coupon

Total coupons and savings $64.93
Total OOP $25.14

Food Lion

1 gallon of milk $3.09
1 Luzianne Coffee ($1Q)
2 Combos ($1/2Q) BOGO
1 Macadamia Nuts on sale $3.99
4 Hershey candy bars (BOGO Q) Bogo Sale=FREE!
Ritz Crackers ($1 Flip) $3

I went back to HT

4 Tyson Chicken Nuggets ($1Q+$.55Q)

2 Apple Jacks ($1)

Total spent $17.11

Total saved $39.35

IT is a really good deal for the chicken. The Apple Jacks are so so, normally I won't pay more than $.75 a box, but I am completely out (for a month) and my little one loves them-Now I just have to hide them from his father!

Gift Cards-Gift Cards-Gift Cards

AS GOOD AS MONEY
Most of this stuff is new to me since last year at this time I was more concerned with my ebay business (It was rockin' last year). This year I am still doing well on my ebay business but am trying not to buy as much this year. This leaves me more time to save money in my personal life.
I never realized until this past summer how many rebates I have missed. Oh the money I have not gotten. Also all the gift card promotions there are, plus Ebates.

This past week I have concentrated on Gift cards and rebates. I have manged to get 3 Rite Aid gift cards by transferring my 3 Rx the last week of the deal ($30 for every Rx transfered up to 4). Two of these 4 were worth $25 each at CVS too.

I spend a lot of time on Hot Coupon World and it has paid off. I have become friends with 2 people that get a lot of rebate forms and another one that get a few. We trade forms (or in one case she gives to me more than I to her) and coupons on a regular basis. In the past 7 days alone I have sent off for more than $50 worth of rebates. Also in this network of Friends we share information. For instance one person had alerted me to a deal Lowes Home Improvement had going on. This past weekend if you bought $100 worth of gift cards you got a form to fill out for an additional $20 gift card, plus you got a coupon on your receipt for $10 off a $50 order. Also I had some rebates that were worth $10 for buying a $20+$25 gift card. I ran out and got the Lowes Gift card knowing I needed to buy some Trashcans and recycling bins (we have recently cancelled our trash pickup). So for my $100 gift card, I received a $10/$50 coupon, $20 rebate and a $10 rebate. Plus when I purchased my trashcans and used my $10/$50 coupon I received another $10/$50 coupon.

This week Food Lion is running a promotion, if you buy $50 in Best Buy gift cards you get a $10 off your next order coupon for Food Lion. CVS had run an ECB promotion to buy American Express Gift cards. I also received a card from Bank Of America if I buy 3 AE gift cards I get a $15 AE gas card-I have also seen this promotion at Food Lion too. The problem with the AE gift cards is they have an activation fee of $4.95 each, so unless it was something needed then it isn't really worth it.

Right now I have
3 $30 Rite Aid Cards
1 $25 American Express Gas Card
1 $15 Best Buy cash
$10 Old Navy Cash
3-$5 Old Navy cards
$7.44 Old Navy Credit (for returning defective pants with no receipt-2 yrs old!)
$50 left on my Lowes Home Improvement GC
2 $10 HT gift cards (purchased for a $10 rebate)
2 $4 DVD/Rental check
5 Food Lion Milk Tickets (need one more for free gallon)
$2/$25 Order for Family Dollar, I will use it at Harris Teeter
$15 CVS ECB
$8.78 Walgreens Gift card (not pictured)
4 $25 coupons for Gift cards when I transfer our 4 RX to there before 2-14-09
All this equals MONEY even though it isn't "cash"
Today I used $110 in Kohls cash, $5 Best Buy bucks and 2 $10 Software checks.

And when my rebates start rolling in-which quite a few are actual gift cards good anywhere-I will be rolling in...dough...er Gift cards!

Xmas shopping

Today I had a mystery shop to do, it was for lunch. I also had gotten $110 in Kohls Cash this past weekend for buying for something else. I asked my kids to give me a Xmas gift list and only one child could do it.

First I went to Kohls and returned an item I had bought for my sons birthday (back in October) that he won't wear (pajamas). I got a credit for $19.31 towards my credit card. I then went and found some pants, 3 hoodies and a few shirts to give for Xmas presents. Total after Kohls cash, $13.12, I put it on my Kohls card.

I went to lunch and did my shop. It cost me $6.70 for which I will be reimbursed and also I will be paid $4 for the shop fee.

I then went to Best Buy. I have gotten a few good things in the mail the past few months. I have received a $5 and $15 bonus cash thing from Best Buy for spending money there (rug shampooer, phone, vacuum filter). I also filled out a couple promotions that I qualified for-
2 for Smucker's which were worth $4 each towards a movie rental or DVD purchase.
2 From Harris Teeter/Kellogg's when I went to do a $10 rebate it was the same day as another deal they had going on that also qualified me for $10 Book/Soft wear/Fashion purchase and I did that twice, so I got $20 from those (in addition to my 2 $10 kelloggs rebates). I found 2 PC software games my son wanted and they ended up costing me $6.79 out of pocket and I used a $5 BB cash and 2-$10 Software checks-which still leaves me with 2 $4 checks and $15 BB cash.

With what I spent today for xmas presents, I actually ended up ahead of the game by $3.40.
